Is affiliate article marketing the same thing as internet marketing? Not exactly as internet marketing is a much broader concept whereas affiliate article marketing is a subset of that concept. In fact if we were to delve deeper into the term “affiliate article marketing”, the more precise definition that I can offer would be marketing an affiliate product or service via the means of articles.
Although there are various types of internet marketing methods like Pay Per Click & SEO, you can apply to generate traffic to your website that promotes affiliate products, most of these methods may have some element of costs in it. Take for example; pay per click advertising requires the advertiser to pay each time someone clicks on the advertisements. Affiliate article marketing on the other hand is free assuming that you are the author of the article.
Marketing using articles is not something new in the offline world and these can be seen in editorials and product reviews found in newspapers and magazines. Make an observation – if you see a certain article in a magazine that is geared towards a product, it’s most likely that the product owner has placed an advertisement in that magazine. That’s the name of the game.
Using the same skill of article marketing and apply it online, you get the benefits that may not be so apparent to print which is traffic and back links to your website. Is there a secret formula in driving mass traffic to your website using article marketing? My formula has always been simple – provide articles and information that add value and good keyword research on what is in demand.
There are 3 key reasons why I use affiliate article marketing.
1) Traffic Generation – If you have valuable and unique content on your website that is also relevant to what you are promoting as an affiliate, you have a higher chance of being linked from other relevant websites. The more relevant links you get, the more reputable your site will be in the eyes of search engines. This translates into better ranking and more traffic.
2) Building Authority – You build reputation and established trust once you have published sufficient quality content on your website. This builds authority in the eyes of search engines in terms of the keywords selected and in the niches that you are competing in. As for the readers and visitors to your website, they will keep coming back for more if you provide reliable and honest information to them.
3) Building Quality Back Links – Articles created by you does not necessary resides on your own website but can be submitted to article directories as well. In such cases, add in a by line or call to action phrases that will bring them to your website. This is another way of generating traffic. This is what back linking is all about. A point to note as well that it’s not the quantity of back links that matters but the quality of it as well. This is because good quality back links helps in increasing your reputation in the eyes of the search engines.
For these 3 key reasons alone, that is why I have spent effort and time on affiliate article marketing and not just count on PPC to generate traffic.
